As mentioned previously, some members have suggested a "field trip" to McGuires in Destin for a behind-the-scenes brewery tour from the brewmaster. A couple weeks back, I called them and talked to Tom. He was more than welcome to host us and show us around. The only issue is that the tour would have to occur during the hours of 9am to 4pm, M-F. He also mentioned that if we called a day or so before we came, he could hand out some samples of their yeast to try with our fermentations.
Prior to the forum going down, it seemed most people could participate on Monday 15th Feb. I'll be out of town that day, but still would like to encourage the club to do it. Jason or Ken, want to take the reins on this one and set it up?
To schedule, contact Tom or Gary at McGuires, 850-650-0000.
You can post your interest and coordinate in the comments section.

Rachel and Mike T. are interested in a McGuires trip on the 15th. Since it is a Federal Holiday many of us will be off, do you want to go earlier for lunch and a tour or we could do a late afternoon tour and early dinner. Ideas?
I think lunch might be a better idea... just thinking about the Brew Masters there. We should still have a pretty good crowd interested, just need someone to jump in and coordinate... I'm down for whatever we decide. How about a show of hands? Who is in? I'll take a first stab at it from what I remember form the forum:
Me (and maybe some tagalongs)
Jason, Jenn, Maddie
Mike, Rachel

Whoa, forum is back up!!!!
We're up for it.....spoke to Jason/Jen last week. Lunch sounds great.
Jen, Madie and I are in. How about we leave at 1000. We would get there around 1100-1130 just in time for lunch. Figure about 2hrs or so for lunch and tour and an 1 1/2 hr back puts us home by 4pm ish. If that works for everyone we can either leave from a central point (my house?) or all meet there at 1200. Let us know and look forward to seeing you there.

Wow...what a great time we had! Tom was awesome..sharing some great commercial brewing insight as well as samples of great brew...the Belgian Blueberry strong ale was delicious. Anyway...I think everyone had a great time...can't wait to do it again!
